Getting wild for a first visit to Animal Kingdom!

Today was a very exciting day, not only was it the boys first time going to Animal Kingdom but it was also Michelle and Pete's first time too! The first thing we did was get a FastPass for the Kilmanjaro Safari.

As we waited for that we walked on the Pangani Forest Trek. Michelle was trying to find these books for the boys to do called Wilderness Explorer books. Basically, you go around the park and do various activities and get badges. We found them on the trail so the boys started collecting badges right away.Once our safari passes were good we got FastPasses for the Kali River Rapids. Then it was time for the Safari! We saw a lot of animals! Let's see ostriches, flamingos, hippos, alligators, elephants, antelope, giraffes, wildebeasts, warthogs and so many more! . Since we had a while before they were valid, we headed to Rafiki's Planet Watch. The boys got some more badges and Michelle loved the whole conservation area. Of course the boys also met Rafiki!

By the time we got back we were able to get another FastPass so because Michelle really wanted to we got FastPasses for Everest! Unforunately it started to downpour, which put a damper on the rest of the day, they closed both the rapids and Everest. We were huddled under this area near the River Rapids waiting for the rain to let up. We grabbed some ice cream for the kids and pretzels for the adults right before the rain started. After standing in the shelter for about 20 minutes we decided to do soething constructive instead of wasting the day so we went and saw Finding Nemo the Musical.

It's a good show but since we got there 15 minutes before showtime we were sitting all the way in the back and the boys couldn't see much, but we moved them around so they could see what they could. After the show the rain let up a little so we headed over to Dinosaur. The youngest loved it! And he immediately wanted to do it again, the oldest kept his eyes closed for most of the ride and didn't want to do it again. I was truly amazed at how much the little one liked it!

Then we saw the It's Tough to Be A Bug show in the Tree of Life. Michelle loved how cool the show was along with all the "surprises" she thought it was adorable. On our way out, we walked through some shops and for dinner we decided to try to get into Rainforest Cafe and lucky for us we got in within 5 minutes! We ate dinner and even though the park closed at 7 we didn't leave until almost 9. We headed back and called it a night.
