First Day of Training

Today was my first day of training, I had to go to a class called Housekeeping Core. Our teacher is from Bolivia so listening to her talk was very difficult, she sounded like a mix of Consuela from Family Guy and Charo. Don't get me wrong she was really nice but seriously? I thought I would possibly meet some new friends today being that everyone is going into the same field but no. We had a total of 12 people in our class myslef included. Let's see there were the two rude, snotty girls, the know it all girl, the quiet girl, the guy who spoke poor English from Puerto Rico, the girl from China and everyone else was from the country Haiti, so most couldn't speak much English and they were all very rude and standoffish. Anyway we were told all the codes, how to stock a cart, the housekeeping board, how to pick stuff up, who to call in certain situations. They did make it a little fun by having a video to the beat of Spoonful of Sugar from Mary Poppins and the movie included cleaning clips from Cinderella, Dumbo, The Sword and the Stone, Sleeping Beauty and of course Mary Poppins. Next we headed to the computer lab for a two hour long training on Blood Bourne Pathogens and Bio Hazards.Then we took a break for lunch and for everyone who I've worked with, we got about a 45 minute lunch that we didn't clock out for! So, we ate lunch in the Mousecateria which is in the Utilador (tunnel system under Magic Kingdom) and I sat down and at the table next to me were Cinderella and Wendy talking over lunch, pretty funny! I thought it was a little weird and for some reason interesting to watch all these people in such different costumes eating all together. After lunch we went back and our teacher was telling me how after we start at our resorts, that we can ask our manager to try other roles in housekeeping including houseperson, lost and found, phone room, etc. So I will have to become good friends with my manager! Then we did a Safety Search which was pretty much a look and find. Then we got to watch a 15 minute video on the proper way to make a bed, fun stuff. Then we got to put on gloves and lucky for us the room right next door had four beds and four bathrooms for us to practice on! Time of my life right there getting to clean not only during class but while I'm wearing my dress clothes. Since one of roommates had class at the same time as me just in a different room, we rode together and when we got back I really wanted to head to Downtown Disney because we apparently get a higher discount until Valentine's Day cause Disney gives its cast members a better discount through the holiday season, so I got some stuff downtown and headed home. I talked to my mom on the phone and then I got to talk to my best friend! I miss everyone so much! I'm glad some friends are already visiting as soon as this coming weekend! Tomorrow is my day actually at my resort so I better get some rest. Night!
