Welcome to the All-Star

This morning was my first official day at my resort. I didn't start til 9 and so I left at 8:20. I got to All-Star Resort Cast Services at around 8:45 and my i.d. wouldn't work to open the gate for the parking lot so I asked someone sitting on a nearby bench and she said you just scan it so I circled around and tried again, nothing. So just as I was about to go park elsewhere somebody opened the gate and some guy who was in front of me went in too so I decided I would too. I parked, got in and we got to meet our immediate managers. Next we had to get our picture taken for the new hire welcome board and I got a little red ribbon that says earning my ears to attach to my name tag. Next we started our introductions and he manager of the whole hotel came in and introduced himself and talked to us. After he left we finished our introductions. The guy sitting next to me actually said his favorite movies are the High School Musical Series, which I loved as well so we got along. Then we talked about all the parks and what the main theme for each one is: Magic Kingdom: Fantasy Epcot: Discovery Hollywood Studios: Show Business (Did anyone else know it actually used to be a movie studio?) Animal Kingdom: Adventure Downtown Disney: Indulgence. Next we discussed the water parks, for those who don't know Typhoon Lagoon was created because a really big hurricane came and put that boat on top of that mountain, there mascot is the Lagoon Gator and Blizzard Beach was created because someone tried to put a ski resort in Florida but of course it melted so it became a water park, there mascot is the Ice Gator (get it haha!) Next we watched a few videos and talked about making magic for guests. Then we headed outside for a tour of the resorts and got a group picture taken and then we got I. The company van. First we stopped at the All-Star Movies Resort, did you know that there are exactly 101 Dalmatians in the 10- Dalmatians section, including the giant Pongo and Perdita and the Lucky? Also, in the love bug section, Herbie is sometimes brought out and he has enough gas to drive him back to All-Star Cast Services but I guess one time a guest drove him all the way to Cocoa Beach! He came back okay and the guest only got a slap on the wrist. We drove through the Music Resort and stopped at Sports, where we had lunch. I called my dear friends from Hallmark and got to talk to them for a little bit, I was really glad I got to talk to my dear friend Dar cause I usually don't have anyway to talk to her. I miss everyone there so much! After that we headed back and we got our schedules and then we got to go to costuming for our costumes (uniforms) wait til you see mine... Next we had to go over this thing called Safety in Motion which is safer techniques how to lift things and what not. I learned where I need to be parking, apparently across the busy interstate street is a parking lot for housekeepers and custodial staff, so everyday I get to cross that busy interstate street. I finished work at about 3:30, grabbed more costumes so I have 5 I total and they know what you check out cause every piece of clothing has a microchip in it to tell you who took it out. After that I headed to Epcot for some shopping, I grabbed a few gifts and my roommate texted me and asked if I wanted to go to Epcot for dinner and I said sure if you want to meet me here and he did. The. I was trading a pin lady who has a bunch of rare Disney Pins for trading purposes and got a lot of pins from her! Then I got to talk to some good friends who are coming down next week to Disney and I found out that I'm off on the day they are going to Animal Kingdom so I will get to go with them! Later my roommate showed up and we played Agent P's mission in China (I have described in an earlier post what this game is) and then we grabbed fish and chips and the Yorkshire Post in United Kingdom and we slowly headed out our way we stopped at this place that let's you sample Coke from around the world, I recommend China (which has a watermelon taste) and I think Germany (which tasted like apples) the Italy one tasted really bitter and gross, as we headed out we could see the fireworks behind us.
