Officially a part of the show
This morning I had to get up at about 5:45 to get all dressed up and go to what is called Disney Traditions which is essentially what the company represents and how they want you to continue that legacy. Right before we walked into the classroom we got our company i.d. which let's us get into the parks for free and gives our discount! Then we went to the class, it started off kinda slow to the point where I thought I was gonna fall asleep but then they made it more exciting, every table had a minute to name every Disney character they could our table had 20 the winning team had 32 . Then we learned some history about Disneyland when it opened. Did you know that opening day everyone had to dress to impress? This meant that the ladies had to wear heels well apparently the concrete was still wet so when the ladies walked in their heels sunk into the ground and they were so excited they just left their shoes behind. So they had to pull all the concrete out with the shoes still intact and they had to re-pour it. Also, shortly after opening their was a plummer's strike so Walt himself was taking care of the toilets, unfortunately that meant drinking fountains didn't work, so they had people walking around with tray with cups of water since it was the summer. Next they took us during class, which we we're getting paid for to the Magic Kingdom not through the front gates but through the Utilador which is the underground tunnel system under Disney we got to see characters getting ready and stuff but no pictures, because it is supposed to be a secret.. so shhh! After that we went back to class and then a knock was on the door and who other than Mickey Mouse comes in to deliver our nametags, it was awesome! But then he took them back so he could add a little more Pixie Dust to them. Then we covered the four keys to working at the parks and at the end we got our name-tags! All-in-all it was pretty cool! Then of course we hit the parks! We were meeting up at Magic Kingdom. Two of our roommates wanted to try the buses, so they took those and me and the other guy took his car. Before we went to MK, we checked out a couple of stores mainly for cast members. The first one was called Company-D which I think anyone can go in, but cast members get 35% off! Then we went to the Casting Warehouse I think it was called and those two stories sell either dated stuff or broken stuff for cheap prices and on top of those prices we get our discount! Like they have pins, mickey hats, they even have display pieces that have been used throughout the parks! It's crazy!!! I will probably need to buy some stuff there eventually. Next, we headed to Magic Kingdom and we got lost and took all these back roads to no man's land like honestly even the roads were empty! Eventually we did make it. When we got there our roommates were already on Space Mountain so we got on the Peoplemover and right away, our first ride as employees, the ride stops and we have to wait, it was only five minutes but still. Then we met up with them and I guess the roommate who I rode with didn't really like the girls that they were with, plus it seemed that they were riding the bigger rides (rides that I'm to chicken to go on) so we moved on. We went to New Fantasyland because it was the other guy's first time there, we got a LeFou's Brew at Gaston's Tavern which wasn't bad surprisingly. Next, we rode Voyage of the Little Mermaid because my roommate really wanted to. So we did that and then we went to Frontierland, missed the Country Bear Jamboree and so he also wanted to check out the card game I've been playing, but once we got the cards and then he saw there were lines just to do it, he got mad and changed his mind. So, we headed to Adventureland and got Dole Whips (which I had never had before) and they were pretty good. We rode Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean and walked through the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse. We decided to leave before the fireworks cause we were both pretty beat and we didn't want to deal with the rush so we left. I've come to realize that in order for me not to be upset and want to go home, I need to be out of the apartment because then I feel like I'm just on vacation with cast member privilages, but seriously when I'm at the apartment I feel... out of place. Hopefully, I'll feel more comfortable as I get more used to it..
