This is gonna be impossible
Today started my first day of on the job training. I had to wake up at 6:45 to be at work before 8 AM. I rushed around and didn't have time to eat a really good breakfast so that was the beginning of my problems. When I got to All-Star Cast Services where we are supposed to clock in, there had to be well over 100 housekeepers getting ready to go so the place was a zoo so I found one of the Training Leaders and she helped me find my trainer. She found us and I got to meet Martha, my trainer. Personally at that moment in time, I was just glad she spoke English as was from the U.S. because some of the people, their accents are just so strong that you can't hardly understand them! So, we got on one of the golf carts that takes you to the hotel and we got stuck on the back so when the driver hit the gas, all the water that was on top came down on us. Please keep in mind we are wearing white pants...you can figure out the rest. So now I'm cold, wet and wearing white pants, sounds like today is gonna be a real winner. We get to our building and go to our floor and grab our cart. Apparently PM Housekeepers use the carts as well and instead of being courtesy and re-stocking them, they didn't so Martha had to do it all over again, even though she did it right before she left. So that took some time. Finally we headed to our first room, just your standard room, two beds and a bathroom. It wasn't that messy and honestly Martha did everything because we saw the family in the hallway and they said they were coming back after breakfast, so she wanted to do their's quick. After their room we went to our first suite, boy was that a disaster! First it is important to note that there's a total of four beds, two bathrooms and a kitchen in a suite. The main bed is in the bedroom and in the living room there's a sofa bed, the chair folds out into a bed and so does the ottoman (foot stool). Even if these beds aren't opened we must check them anyway. The kitchen isn't that big but still. The bathrooms each have a room with the sink and place to hang your clothes and then another small room with the toilet and the shower. We have to scrub the toilet, shower, sink and sweep and mop the floor. Make all the beds, replace the soaps, dust, change any towels, possibly the sheets, vacuum the floors and take out the garbage. The people in this first suite had the beds so they were almost blocking the door, clothes EVERYWHERE! Seriously imagine a bomb went off in your closet and that's how this room looked and we had to straighten everything. So that took a little bit and then we did our check-out room. Those take the most time, because you not only have to everything listed above but you need to change all towels and all the sheets. If it's a suite (which it was you need to get rid of anything in the fridge and possibly keep it for yourself if it is unopened or dump it. The pile of empty shoeboxes and shopping bags in this room was from the floor to the ceiling! Not including the giant one for their stroller! Seriously one of the bathrooms was full of just garbage! It was crazy! After we spent I'd say almost two hours in that room we went to lunch, we don't have to clock out or go at any specific time or we don't have to take one at all, we just go for half hour-an hour depending on how long you have to spare and then go back to work. After lunch we had two more suites. The first one after lunch wasn't to bad. Our last suite was a little messy but we got through it. We were almost done when a guest stopped me and asked to have his room serviced and I told him we would so I got Martha and she took care of that while I finished the suite. He was kinda rude, not even saying please or thank you but that's what we get I guess. So I finished the suite while Martha did the other room for the guest. We had to go let the housekeeper assigned to his room know that we did it already and he really didn't seem to understand what Martha was telling him so he wanted the guest to sign his assignment sheet or board as it's called so she got him to sign it and everyone was happy. After that we restocked the cart and called the manager to let her know we were done for the day and then we had to go to her office to give her back the key to the rooms. We left at about 3:45 and had to go back to cast Services because I had to take some Haz Com test but I already took it, the last time I was there, but even still I couldn't leave until 4:30 so I had to wait around until then. Martha did show me where we look at our schedule, pick up our checks, the lost and found. Even though she could have left (I mean they suggested she stay but I don't think she had to) and she left about 5 minutes before I could. Then I got to leave, I just sat in my car for a while thinking "Wow what the hell have I gotten myself into?" Then I talked to my mom who said get something to eat and go back to the apt. and rest. So I went to Epcot to try something new, but nothing was quick or cheap so I left there and ended up by the outlets, so I thought I would eat there but that place was a mob scene, seriously think of the Galleria Mall the day after Christmas. Then I headed to Target which has a Denny's in the same parking lot, but apparently only person was cashing and seating people so after waiting for almost 10 minutes I left. I think what really irked me was when she asked the guy she was waiting on if he wanted dessert and then went and got him some! And left about a dozen people waiting there. So, I went to Panda Express which I guess is Chinese Fast Food. I got some Peppercorn shrimp, beef with broccoli, vegetables and rice all for 8 bucks (thank you cast member discount!) It actually wasn't that bad! Then I stopped at Target for a few things, learned that they too have a Pizza Hut and Starbucks just like mine back home and then I went back to the apartment. I would like to thank the two people who went out of there way to make me feel better, my one friend who is also doing the program and a long distance friend, you guys are the best! I also got a Valentine's Day card in the mail so thank you for that. Now I'm gonna go to bed so I can do it all over again tomorrow!
